@mraisinggirls: I didn’t even know having a child with dwarfism was a possibility, let alone the statistics behind it, until Billie was born. She is the first little person in our family and she has achondroplasia 💚 Achondroplasia is the most common form of dwarfism and over 80% of children born with it have average height parents, just like us. There’s still so much for us to learn and so many stereotypes around little people, with assumptions made about what they can and can’t do before anyone has even actually spoken to them. Billie is only three, and I’m already thinking about the world she’s growing up into despite her proving every assumption wrong within moments of you meeting her. I want her world to be more accepting and inclusive of her and other children like her but we still have so far to go. That’s why this month and Dwarfism Awareness Day on Sunday 25th October matters so much to me and my family. We’ll be wearing green to raise awareness, spark conversations and challenge stigmas and I’d love you to join us.
