@melrobbins: Hate your job? Before you quit, consider THIS. On this episode of The Mel Robbins Podcast, I'm sitting down with someone I've wanted on the show for YEARS: world-renowned organizational psychologist and Wharton School professor Adam Grant. Together, we explore the science of job satisfaction, why quitting isn’t always the answer, and how small changes at work can make you happier without having to leave your job. 🎧 "How to Unlock Your Full Potential with #1 Professor Adam Grant" Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube - search "The Mel Robbins Podcast Adam"

I think he means quitting one job to do the same job somewhere else. I also quit teaching after 10 years an a Masters and couldn’t be happier!!!! But, as a travel nurse I got to see the grass isn’t greener at other NICUs in my area and was happy when traveling dried up and I went back to my first job.

This is not true the best way to raise your salary to learn more to grow to be uncomfortable as you expand it to quit and go after something hard staying comfortable is the worst thing you can do for your career, especially nowadays

Oh, that’s interesting so in the study, they interviewed people, but I think there is a spectrum of happiness and if the people that did maintain their jobs were a different level of unhappy than the people that didn’t end up leaving then it’s not a comparable variable so I have a lot of issues with the study. I think it’s hard to measure the reality of what it’s trying to measure..

Quitting feels like the brave move, but the braver question is whether you're running toward something or just away from discomfort. A bad season at work isn't always a bad job — sometimes it's the signal to change the role, not the whole direction.

Really. So if you’re mentally exhausted and it’s now affected your physical health, you should continue to stay?

dont listen to this man. quit the shit job. try the new job and if after 6 months to a year you dont like the new one, quit that one too. you are not stuck. you do not have to deal with a crappy work environment. the grass is greener some places.

Sometimes the problem is not the job itself, but the lack of autonomy, growth, or meaning within it. Before making a major change, it is worth asking what needs to change in your work environment and what only a new environment can offer.

I think if the pay and benefits are what you need it to be then you can certainly stretch out the period of time in which you compromise yourself to stay. If you’re being abused in any type of way and it’s destroying your mental and physical health, then you have to leave immediately. Staying even one more day to compromise your well-being is not worth it. Staying for a while because the job is kind of boring and meaningless and perhaps not fulfilling to you but pays the bills and gives you good benefits is OK.
