I think they are having two different conversations. Sarah just got married last year( a little late in life) which is fine and she also doesn’t have children. I think we often have opinions on situations we have no experience in and think we have all the answers! You will not and do not! What makes one woman feel complete may not work for another🙄

I'm not sorry for this, but I'm a SAHM, and a wife... best thing I've ever done. I get more recognition for what I do from my own family that anyone else! I don't need anyone else to recognize me.

My sister married her high school sweetheart and had three kids and centered her life around that. Now she is a married single mom and very unhappy.

As a mother who has been with the same man for 16 years and love my family I also feel like we need to respect those women who don’t want children or want to just be all about themselves 🤷🏻‍♀️

We should have our identity outside of marriage and being a mom. Being a wife and a mom shouldn’t be your entire world.

Life happens regardless of marriage or not. I know women who were married and still ended up single parents after their spouse died untimely deaths. Marriage is not always the end all be all

What would happen if we just let people decide how they want their own life projectory to go without placing judgements on those choices? Because different strokes for different folks.

I think they both have valid points. In college, I took a psychology of women course, and I remember discussing interviews with women who had taken different paths. Some pursued careers, some were stay-at-home mothers involved in fundraising or community activities, and others had put personal goals on hold to raise their families. What stayed with me was the importance of having a sense of identity and fulfillment alongside being a spouse or parent. That can come from a career, community involvement, personal interests, or caregiving itself. I also remember discussing how some mothers struggled to redefine their roles as their children grew older and became more independent. I wouldn’t conclude from that discussion that working women have more successful marriages or that stay-at-home mothers are more likely to divorce. My takeaway is that wanting a family and wanting to pursue personal goals can both be true. Neither path automatically guarantees fulfillment, and being accomplished is not limited to having a career. What matters is being intentional about what you want and allowing yourself to revisit those choices as life changes, rather than simply letting life happen.
