Meanwhile people will have wall to ceiling funko pops in their packaging and never be questioned. Love that you have the dogs with so many different languages - that's so cool! And collecting different variants of dolls is so so common ...

I grew up around hoarding. your videos of your house are not even close, collecting some things you enjoy and having toys out is not hoarding. you can reach things safely and the things that are out are all things you could tidy away quite quickly and don't impact on daily living. it's not dirty or unsanitary. people just pathologise everything when you have support needs and that is the issue. no one's house is spotless 24/7

I think that the only difference between being seen as hoarding vs collecting is how they are being presented and stored. Something like on a shelf will be seen differently than on the floor even though they are the same items! (At least for those who don’t understand what actual hoarding is!) a shelf with labels for the items makes all the difference in changing how something is perceived!

You've mentioned the toys and how they're different before (I believe I saw a video of you saying that you found a different one)!! That was my first thought when I saw that comment. I love to learn about others' special interests and your toys are super cool. <3

I am also autistic my love. Your floor needs to be clear, pop a shelf up for them. We need to recognise clutter. Sorry if I hit a sore spot with the dogs, I understand, but there was trays of loose toys I doubt are played with every single day. We need to recognise when others are also mentioning it ( your video explain what the lady said was wrong)

I think people fundamentally don't know what hoarding is and that it has a psychological element which you have explained you don't experience! Also that it is much harder to clear out things like cardboard from a delivery if you don't drive (can't use the tip/recycling centre) and have communal bins combined with terrible neighbours!

I'm autistic too and my dice set collection would definitely be pathologised the same way but I just like having a lot of dice for dnd it's not always a mental health issue 😭

Would it matter if they were the same. ? You’re allowed to collect things you enjoy. There is a person near me who collects tea spoons and at last article in the local news had something like 4000 of them… beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all. Everyone is allowed to be an individual !

They’d hate my collection then, at this point 70% of my room is just plushies 😂 do people not realize it’s common for autistic individuals to collect things relating to their special interests?

Oh I remember your video on your stuffed dogs. I LOVE THEM. They are absolutely not the same and they bring you joy. Life is too short. What’s the difference between a man collecting action figures and you collecting stuffed dogs? Absolutely nothing! No difference at all!

dude you keep doing you and ignore the ignorant ppl [Crying], ive commented quite a few times recently because ever since i joined tiktok, even on my old account, youve popped up on my for you page. i truly believe youre brave for what you do, although i shouldnt HAVE to see it that way, because you are also human and have rights and your social workers should be advocating for you. im very sorry that that isnt the case. youre genuinely so awesome and i like learning about the differences in our countries' social work, even if it turns out bad for you, it gives me warnings to advocate for people that i know a little harder than usual. i hope you soon receive a rational care worker and everything you need to succeed, it is very clear you're capable and the systems are failing you and your wife

I collect packaging from parcels that had my special interest's merch in it. The packaging is seemingly "plain" to others but I just like that it had the merch in it, I can't throw it out. This was seen as a problem by so many workers for so long, until recently, I got a new worker from the Integrated Autism Service here in Wales, and he's fine with it and said we could get polypockets to flatten it down and put it in so it takes up less space. 🥺 That is good disability support, people, not taking away the things that make us happy! He's also working with my brain to clean, not against it. He talked about something called task sandwiching, where I could partake in my special interest first, then do something hard for 30 minutes like cleaning, then reward myself with my special interest again because it activates the dopamine in the brain and makes the task easier. I tried it today and I was nearly crying afterwards because I can't believe the answer was so simple all along. He solved a lifelong problem just like that and I actually felt good about the cleaning I did, rather than crappy like usual. We're gonna do a task sandwich everyday now (as long as my pain allows). I hope you can find people that truly support you and not just look at you as a problem because believe me, I know how hard that is 💔
