@economyvodka: I could’ve worded this better but these are my thoughts on the coverage of the Paris protests. #paris #francetiktok #pourtoi #politics #fyp
As a Black Parisian, my main issue is that they keep calling us immigrants when the protests started in the French Caribbean colonies, so by Black people who've been French since the abolition of slavery and in the banlieues, where maaaaany Black and Brown people have been living for at least 100 years. So yes, Black and Brown kids did start the protest and we're very proud of them, but they did it because it's part of French culture and they're French children.

The most vocal protagonists in Paris are the young white French and they're actively seeking media coverage to voice their frustration, global mainstream media are ignoring them because they can't divorce themselves from the status quo that always upholds state narrative, which always pits western majority societies against POC, especially blk folk.

exactly that, I was protesting in France, and that was the first time all ethnicity of France were together fighting the same issue, and Bourgeoisie know that if we understand that they're over

I’ve been to those manifestations in Paris and the crowd is like 90% white… I did two weeks of blockade at my university and out of all of my friends (the ones that were there to actually block the entrance of the campus) only one of them was black, it’s a popular lower/middle-class youth movement against the lack of investment into public services ofc there is going to be an "over-representation" of POC bcs France is a racist colonial country, but even like that the "great replacement" theory bullshit doesn’t make any sense

I’m agreeing with you but also as someone living in Paris for the last 12 years the most aggressive and homophobic people that I came across are black and arabic✌ just saying

You traveled and lived in Europe a lot is the cost of living compared to working class incomes that bad and is the education really that bad I’m just wondering if there’s an economic component that I’m missing because I’ve seen videos saying that it’s just a natural effect of decolonization from Africa and the French people should be willing to accept a loss and compensate in other ways. I ask because I would’ve expected protests like these in Nigeria, chile, Columbia and South Africa before the eu

Im French and it’s only when I traveled in another country with almost none mondialisation that I understood how rich it was that in france we were so different from all around the world yet so close to each other, bc they stopped listening to the media and fought for our rights together, they got scared

the same thing is happening here in italy!! the whole country is protesting one way or another but the media only talks about people of colour (second-generation immigrants) who they think are destroying cities. they even made a new law to punish this category in particular if they participate in violent protests
