@lizbettalksmoney: That money is invested inside of her 529 account. No, a 529 is not JUST for college. It can be used for trade school, certification programs, among other things. Also, up to $35,000 can be rolled over to a Roth IRA after it has been open for 15 years (subject to yearly limits). If it’s still not the account you want to invest for your child, look into UTMA/UGMA or the new 530a account (Trump Account). If your child earns money legitimately, then another option is a Custodial Roth IRA. 👍 ⚠️ There is no way I can cover every nuance of investing in one lesson.
