@danceteachermb: Dance Industry Trends I’m Not Loving… 👀 This one might upset some people, but hear me out! 🤣 And before anyone comes for me, I’ll be the FIRST to admit that I was guilty of this trend when I was younger, too! As I’ve grown as a dancer and educator, continued my education, and had conversations with other professionals in the industry, my perspective on certain things has changed. And this is definitely one of them! Personally, I’m just not a fan of wearing only ONE dance shoe on stage, especially in a competitive setting. I feel like it can highlight a dancer’s weaker side before they’ve even had the chance to perform. And personally, I think we should be encouraging dancers to develop strength and confidence on BOTH sides! I know I used the word “tacky” in this video, but I want to be clear that I’m talking about the trend itself, NOT the dancers who participate in it. There’s a difference! 🤎 I already know this is one that people have strong opinions about, and that’s okay! I’d genuinely love to hear other perspectives. Agree? Disagree?
