Figaro qua, Figaro là, Figaro su, Figaro giù, Ah, bravo Figaro! Bravo, bravissimo!" "Hey, Figaro! I'm here. Figaro here, Figaro there, Figaro up, Figaro down, Ah, bravo, Figaro! Bravo, bravissimo!" You have heard this aria. You just didn't know where from. It is the entrance of Figaro, the handyman barber, in Rossini's "The Barber of Seville" (1816). This passage is the end: Figaro introduces himself. Everyone calls him, he is everywhere. In 1944, Woody Woodpecker, as a barber, sings the aria while lathering a customer. In 1946, at Disney, it is Willie the whale, who dreamed of singing at the Metropolitan, in "Make Mine Music". In 1949, Bugs Bunny disrupts an opera singer who tries to rehearse it. In 1952, in a Tex Avery cartoon, a magician sabotages a singer in the middle of the aria. In 1964, Tom is a baritone who sings it at a concert, and Jerry, who lives under the stage, sabotages him. In 1993, Robin Williams sings it right at the start of "Mrs. Doubtfire", lip-syncing an animated bird. In 2021, it plays in Pixar's "Luca" while Massimo, Giulia's father, cooks. In 2026, at the opening of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, Italy's delegation, last to march in, entered to the sound of it. Figaro sings that he is everywhere. More than two centuries later, the aria is too. Here he praises himself, and at the end the real applause comes in. Which did you see first: Woody Woodpecker, Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry, "Mrs. Doubtfire" or "Luca"? 🎼 Work: Largo al factotum (The Barber of Seville) 🎹 Composer: Gioachino Rossini 🎤 Performer: Leo Nucci 🇮🇹 🎬 Recording: Metropolitan Opera, New York, matinee of December 3, 1988, broadcast on TV Show this to anyone who thinks opera is boring. #BestOfOpera #Rossini #BarbeiroDeSevilha #LeoNucci
