Wait guys I think he wanted this lane because of the ladder to get out. He sat in the hot tub after swimming 1 lap and wasn’t the most mobile so I think he really just needed this lane! I appreciate everyone standing up for me but it wasn’t a big deal. Gave me a moment of connection with another human being and became a memorable part of this mornings very boring workout! I’ve found the secret to happy life is to look less at myself in situations and more at others, it’s incredibly freeing!

how did so many people watch this and think poorly of him… my first thought was that he wanted to be by the wall and ladder, he’s obviously older… in a pool with flippers and a snorkel i think we can look a little beyond ourselves here

I love the mentality of him only doing a lap and a half. Like he knows that’s what he can do and instead of being like that’s not even worth it he was like I’m doing this lap and a half. That’s awesome.

I think both interactions were super kind. Now you can also take this as a learning experience, if there is only that one ladder, you can leave the ladder lane open for those less mobile. 🥰

the comments don’t understand swim etiquette! jumping into someone’s lane to split or circle swim is very common in recreational swimming :) the only thing kinda weird here is that there were other lanes open but swimmers know you don’t own a lane just bc you’re in it and will need to share if more people show up
