Hey can’t believe I’m so early, but I’m a firefighter so I tried to explain it as good as I can. Also, I’m German so excuse my English. Fire needs three essential elements to burn: heat (an ignition source), fuel (a combustible material), and oxygen from the air. These three elements form the fire triangle. Water extinguishes fire mainly by absorbing heat from the burning material. When water heats up and evaporates, it requires a large amount of energy, which is taken from the fire. This cools the material below its ignition temperature, so it can no longer continue burning. Water vapour can also displace some oxygen near the fire, reducing the oxygen supply. As a result, the combustion reaction slows down and eventually stops. Hope this helps☺️Ps I love your Videos so much

I mean, sodium and chlorine are very hazardous materials and react violently. But put them together and they make table salt. Chemistry is weird.

its how theyre combined.. when theyre merged together they change their form 🤷‍♀️.. 2 hydrogen 2 oxygen is peroxide.. 2 hydrogen 1 oxygen is water .. 1hydrogen 1 water is hydroxyl radical which is NOT stable and reactive or 1 hydrogen 2 oxygen is hydroperoxyl radical (also called hydrogen superoxide) ... its all in how the atoms stabilize when combined 🤷‍♀️.... as for how water puts out fire .. its basically because as long as its still liquid form it is bellow the flash point of almost anything.. but if you expose pure potassium to water that creates fire

hydrogen is an unstable atom like oxygen but H2O all the atoms have enough electrons that they dont need anymore and they are stable isn't he easiest way to explain it

water takes away heat. you need heat, fuel, and oxygen for fire. water wouldn’t work on the battery anyway

Compounds have very different properties to their constituent elements, chlorine a deadly gas and sodium, an explosive metal make edible table salt!

Well if it’s a car battery it’s lithium so water won’t put it out but if your burning wood for example and you put water on it , it goes out because the water gets in the wood and boils into steam cutting oxygen to get into the wood and therefore putting out the fire

Fire is just heat in it’s simplest form. Water removes the heat and cools the material below its flash point. As water heats it steams which helps cool it further and steam expands to I believe 1500-1700 times it’s original volume which starves it from oxygen

Because they hydrogen is bonded to the oxygen so it changes the properties of both. “Fire” is just an exothermic chemical reaction. Water is stable because the reaction has already taken place to make it. Fun fact, if you seperate a water molecule into its base hydrogen and oxygen molecules, then burn the hydrogen with the oxygen that you seperated from it, the by product is water😂😂

its a compound and they do a reaction where theyre safe. for example pure sodium (Na) will and pure chlorine (Cl) will kill you but put them together (NaCL) then you have salt

water can smother the fire and take away at least 3 of the elements that make up the 3 things needed to make fire wich is fuel heat and oxygen take away one of those boom no more fire

It’s moisture a fire needs pretty dry air that’s why it struggles when rainy or humid but that’s not enough water to put it out. Also fire breathing O2 and waters oxygen is unusable so it suffocates/drowns

You could douse fire with anything that blocks oxygen from the fire, and is not flammable itself …could be water…could be Dr Pepper. Doesn’t matter. The real question is how heavy a covalent bond is. Hydrogen and Oxygen by themselves…light. Hold them together with a covalent bond, super heavy.
