In the Netherlands it is quite normal to perform your own pap smear at home. You still can choose to have your gp do it. But the consensus is that women are more likely to get their pap smear if they can do it themselfs. But it does not involve a veil with liquid, so kudos to you for doing it yourself

Wish it was common here in Canada to do it ourselves. Drs don’t even give the option they just do it (in the area where I live aniway)

oh i always choose to self swab when im getting testing done. the nurse does my throat swabs but i do my downstairs parts because of #trauma. i very rarely if ever want them to actually look and see what’s going on down there

I work at a doctors office and we have these swabs. If you ask, the doctor will do it for you but it’s more so of a comfort reason. 99% of the time, the patient is already uncomfortable coming in with vaginal concerns so we just let you do it yourself.

I had to do three of these at one visit, they charged me $360 for each test and listed that the doctor's performed them... I'm pretty sure they are robbing me! ✨😭

I work in a clinic that also sometimes has pts do this themselves and we have instructions with pictures so that it’s easier. It’s a better sampling for testing and you don’t have to have a provider all up in your bits to get it done.
