I got a TERRIBLE phone call the other day 😓 An old deckhand of mine was freaking out…his girlfriend was being deported from the U.S. 🇺🇸 She worked on a yacht that went to the Bahamas for an owner’s trip… 🇧🇸 But when they came back to the USA, immigration noticed: 🚩The captain didn’t check the vessel out of the U.S. 🚩No official documents for the Yacht 🚩No official crew list 🚩None of the crew had contracts ♦️So when they showed up saying they were “returning,” immigration was like ...ummm what? And that’s all it took for them to start digging deeper 📄🔎 ⚓ Follow for real yacht crew stories, lessons, and mistakes you need to avoid 👈 ♦️They pulled the crew aside and started asking questions. And when they asked if anyone worked in the U.S. illegally, 2️⃣ of the crew admitted to day-working. Case closed 🚪 ♦️Three crew members ended up getting deported. All of them South African 🇿🇦 They were handcuffed, taken to Miami, told to buy a flight and sent home. Visas cancelled ❌ No chance to pack ❌ ♦️And just a day later, another call…same situation, different boat. Two more crew gone 👋 Five people deported in less than 48 hours because of bad paperwork & no contracts. ♦️If you’re trying to work in yachting, this is your warning ⚠️ Don’t make the same mistakes as these crew.
