KendraRogg :
I feel like a character who ages post the AIDS crisis deserved some attention and if I remember, this was a part of the character I remembered.

I was super disappointed by this book. Forever frustrated it beat out The Idiot, which I think tackles the same themes of travel, complex romantic feelings, and not knowing what to do with your life while also being a much more funny book. Whatever🤷♂️

This was a really fun read and I am so glad it won. I like that you use “simplicity” to describe it. Sometimes I think those awarding prizes feel they have to reward complex structures. Sometimes great writing and stories are just “simply” great.

I guess I didn’t really like it either. It was OK. Maybe good for readers in their 40s

I loved Less. I’m not surprised it won. I think people want intelligence and sophistication to always triumph but there’s something to be said for being widely appealing. There’s talent, intelligence, and sophistication involved in that too but it’s just not in a showy self-serious way.
