@pbsnews: The spookiest Halloween trail this year could be a jaunt down the chocolate aisle. David Branch of Wells Fargo’s Agri-Food Institute says shoppers should expect to see a 7-10% spike in chocolate prices this Halloween season. Bad weather patterns and diseases striking cocoa farms in West Africa caused cocoa prices to surge globally in 2025, the year manufacturers purchased cocoa for this year's Halloween candy. Increased costs of sugar and corn syrup are also contributing to this year's frightening prices. As a result, chocolate lovers could see more shrinkflation and fillers in their favorite chocolate bars as manufacturers try to keep price points low for customers. Trick-or-treaters will likely also see less chocolate and more non-cocoa candies such as lollipops, suckers and gummies in their Halloween bags on Oct. 31. #pbsnews #pbsnewshour #newshour #news #chocolate #halloween #candy #trickortreat #cocoa #economy #prices #shrinkflation
