Yamal should not win the Ballon d'Or. A main criteria for winning the award is Class and Fair Play, he called Real Madrid cheaters in an interview and also called out Vinicius Jr to the tunnel after the El Classico. At the age of 19 that kind of sportsmanship won't get you anywhere. Another one is Team Performances and Achievements, we all know he won the World Cup, Spanish League and the Supercopa, so now let's take a look on how he contributed to those trophies. Let's start with the biggest trophy, the World Cup, throughout the whole tournament he managed to get the same goal contributions as Manuel Neuer (1 g/a) who is a goalkeeper. Without Lamine Yamal Spain would of still won it, his only goal during the tournement didn't even mean anything aswell. Wasn't in the top 10 in chances created or successful dribbles either. He even stated that he had a poor World Cup. Moving onto the Supercopa, he only played the final which was against rivals Real Madrid, and in the final he didn't do anything. Moving onto the La Liga, he was the joint top scorer on his team with 16 goals, without him I'd still say they would have won it. But we can't use that as an argument so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. The only team trophies he contributed to is La Liga, bit of a slow paced league aswell. Now for Individual performances and decisiveness, he is by far the worst candidate in big games. Having 0 goal contributions vs PSG, Real Madrid 2 times, Chelsea, Bilbao, Atletico Madrid 5 times and every other game he played in the World Cup except Saudi Arabia which he scored a tap in to make it a 4 goal difference, pointless. So now we've talked about him not being decisive this season, let's take a deeper look. He is below Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe on Game Winning goal contributions per 90 minutes (club only), having 0.268. To take that stat into a deeper look, Yamal won the game for Barcelona with a goal contribution(s) against Levante (Assist), Rayo (Penalty), Sociedad (Assist), Girona (Assist), Alaves (Goal and Assist), Frankfurt (Assist), Albacete (Goal), Villarreal (3 Goals), Athletic Club (Goal) and Espanyol (A Goal and 2 Assists).
