I'd be in jail. 🤬🤬🤬 BTW: You can trim a cats nails like you cut your own nails. I do that every 2nd week. Less accidents, cuts, destroyed furniture.

I'm surprised roomie found a vet that would declaw the cat. Most won't do that procedure anymore.

Can you get a surgery of an animal that’s not legally yours though?

I declawed my cat when I was really young and tell this day I regret it, at the time it was still new and was even recommended by our vet 😞 Fluffy I hope you forgive me one day.

If I could, I would file a police report and then get a lawyer and sue the vet who did it, especially if the cat was chipped!

That roommate is evil. No vet should do this.

Hell no!!! I’d be getting a new roommate and sue her. I also would like the phone number to that vet and suing the vet … It’s painful for the cats and if they do it wrong.. their paws will bleed horrible. My stepdad took are cat to the vet to be declawed and they messed up his nails badly. His paws wouldn’t stop bleeding and getting ripped open.

Legally, pets are seen as property. But you can still take legal action against her, and possibly the veterinary, depending on how the cat was presented. Vets just don't do surgery without prior meeting with the cat and owner. Exceptions would be if you have some type of wellness/care plan with a specific vet. Which case they'd know she's not the pets owner.

OP needs to file animal cruelty charges along with a civil lawsuit.

if I heard correctly, this happened in 2014!!! 12yrs ago.. luckily vets today will NOT declaw!! I've had cats allll my life (60's) & wld never do that to any of my cats!! I do clip the tips of their nails so they don't scratch.. they also have some many of those cardboard scratchers.. shame on any vets that do that!!🤨😉

if you have paperwork that legally makes you the owner of the cat you may be able to take legal action against this.

I mean a vet that does declawing is already sketchy enough, I wouldn’t put anything past them

Absolutely tf not. That's a major horrible surgery on a cat. I don't think vets should do it at all.

That’s so harmful for the kitty! If it goes outside it can’t defend its self and also causes problems when using the litter box 😡
