The rand has moved from below R16 to around R16.70 to the US dollar, which has wiped out the small benefit South Africa was getting from the exchange rate earlier in the month. Global oil prices have also remained high, while supply is being affected by disruptions and shortages. There was some potential relief on Friday when global oil prices dropped below $100 a barrel after France proposed that countries release strategic oil reserves. But unfortunately, according to the report, that came too late to have a meaningful impact on October’s fuel price adjustment. 😬 And here's why this matters beyond just filling up your car...
