Do u think Evonitz may be responsible for deaths of other little girls & or women in between the time of the Lisk murders & your kidnapping Kara? If so, who Else do u think he killed in between that time-frame???

You also get entered into CODIS if you’re arrested for a particular crime, and it’s more crimes than you would think.. I would think a court order or a judge says that there is probable cause could be enough.

The other issue I see is legislation would need to be retroactive as well.

Since Parabon is doing so much can you send it to them to check for things near them? Since they are not exactly gov?

I would think the state you were kidnapped in should be the starting point to get that loophole established

There are a surprising amount of cases where the perp's DNA was never entered into CODIS for varying reasons. Sometimes it has to be put through more than once to hit.

Does CODIS cross-match unknown DNA? Like, if there were several victims of the same unknown perp would they light up together?

Oh my gosh, you’re the girl who gathered as much information as you could to survive! After years of hearing about these stories, survival mechanisms started slowly adding up in my brain and every time I’m somewhere like a mall where I could be taken, I turn my location on and always think of your story in case my phone doesn’t get taken with me. You’re a badass.

the loophole should be as easy as if he were alive would he be a convicted felon if YES enter the DNA if NO don't enter the DNA

I really hope someone can help you make this happen! I’m a retired crime scene investigator and being able to close out those unknown cases would be so amazing! Good luck!❤️

I just finished it today, so well done!! I was shocked that he wasn’t in there! What does it hurt to have him added in there? It makes no sense. So unbelievably frustrating that the system is set up to protect the perpetrators and not the survivors!!!

Kara!! The anger I feel for you when I learned this! Because we know there are more victims out there that cases could be solved. I love your two new shows, you are such an amazing person!

Can his next of kin agree to it/request it? I would think the rights to his body/DNA would automatically transfer to his POA or next of kin upon his death

Hey! DNA analyst here. CODIS rules are VERY strict. State rules are a little less strict, where certain samples are able to be searched state-wide but not across state lines. Unfortunately, a loophole like that isn’t something likely to happen. Very complicated and far too many privacy issues re: DNA. Familial DNA would be a great idea but if the sister’s not comfortable with it, she’s not obligated to do it. To be clear, if the sister went the familial route, her DNA wouldn’t be entered into CODIS. Searching like that is done entirely outside of CODIS and she would have to opt in to law enforcement searching when submitting her DNA to whatever genealogy company she ends up going with. Were any of the cases solved before he passed? If they have his DNA for a case, law enforcement agencies may be able to share the sample if people suspect he was involved in a specific case.
