I had a $100 gift card and one of those $10 bonus cards. Gave her both since the $10 wasn’t going to be enough on its own but I wanted to use it. She ran the bill and brought the bonus card back. When we pointed it out, she argued that the cashier must have loaded the cards wrong because the bonus card is the one with our remaining balance. We asked to receive both cards back just in case and she told us she threw it away. We told her to get it out of the trash because we weren’t leaving without it, so she rolled her eyes and pulled it out of her pocket! We checked, and there was no mistake by the cashier. She gave us back an empty bonus card and was trying to keep the one with money still on it.

I was manager at a Chipotle digital drive thru store. When people ordered food it was online and the receipt would print for us but we weren’t obliged to give them the receipt since they paid online. I had a teen girl that was collecting the customers receipts and using them on a cash back app. She was able to get so much back in a year on top of her own saving that she got herself her dream car, brand new. I didn’t find out until I was on the verge of quitting but honestly I respected the hustle she put in for her dream 😂

I was a manager at a TGI Fridays, inside of a mall and one of my servers whenever a table was paying with the credit card she would run across to the CVS store and buy gift cards with the person’s credit card 🤦🏼♀️

Not a gift card situation, but we went out to a newish restaurant. We ate and paid for our meal using our debit card and tipped 20 in cash (our bill was 100). We were charged 130 (which made our account negative because we transfer money as we need it) on our card plus that 20 in cash. I called and called. We didn’t want a full refund just our extra 30 that was charged because the food was great we were just confused why it was 130ish when the bill was 100. The server gave herself a 50 tip 🙃 idk if she got fired or what but we ended up with a full refund minus the cash tip. So next time we go back we’re taking cash only. Lesson learned

I worked at a restaurant and one of the servers I had a thing with got fired for this. One of our regulars bought a $200 gift card and left it there on accident. The server would use it on cash tables and pocket the cash. The regular had the gift card number and checked the balance and called the restaurant and he got fired.

I’m slow..took me a second to figure out how she would get that money in her pocket at the end of the night. But after all the years I spent serving, I never understood jeopardizing your job over some money here and there that could get you fired, or land you in jail with a record. I thought I had heard/seen it all.
