Velociraptor was an arid mesopredator (like smaller cats and owls) that lived during the Late Cretaceous Period. It’s bones were found in the Djadochta formation of what is now modern day Mongolia, hence its name. The background of the Djadochta formation was taken from Wikipedia, and the photo itself taken by photographer Bayn Dzak. The portrait is a still from the Apple TV show, Prehistoric Planet.
