@charlestondaily: 🖤 Remembering Tom Skerritt (1933–2026) Hollywood says goodbye to a remarkable actor whose quiet strength, distinctive voice and authentic performances shaped beloved films and television shows across more than six decades. From Captain Dallas in Alien and Commander Mike “Viper” Metcalf in Top Gun to rancher Mac MacGuff in Steel Magnolias and Emmy-winning Sheriff Jimmy Brock on Picket Fences, Skerritt brought humanity and grounded authority to every role. His work also included MASH*, The Turning Point, A River Runs Through It and Contact, reflecting his remarkable versatility. More than the length of his résumé, it was Skerritt’s ability to make every character feel real that made him special. A steady presence in stories cherished by generations, he never needed to demand attention to command it. We remember a gifted performer whose legacy lives on in the films, television shows and memories he leaves behind. Rest in peace, Tom Skerritt. Thank you for the stories, the characters and a lifetime of unforgettable performances. 🕊️🎬
