@wayneg182: Here is yet another of my favorite top-winning Buckeye Nostalgias. This one will soon be 11 years old. She was the national Best in Show winner at the 2019 AVSA national show and convention in Houston and appeared on the cover of the African Violet Magazine published by the African Violet Society of America just two months later. All of my other Buckeye Nostalgias over the last 10 years have been propagated either directly from her or from her direct descendants. So every single Buckeye Nostalgia in my collection is from this strain or "bloodline" so to speak. This same Buckeye Nostalgia also won Best in Show two years earlier at the November 2017 Lone Star regional show and convention. She was the first of my four consecutive Best in Show winners at the annual Lone Star regional show in Texas. I no longer compete locally in Houston or at this particular regional show. She has also won the highly-coveted gold rosette for Best AVSA Standard Collection numerous times. She is my overall top winner dating back to my very first African violet show in March 1981. This beautiful winner is absolutely a chameleon. Her variegation has changed colors so many different times, and each variation is uniquely beautiful in its own way. Sometimes, especially in the cooler months, she has a lot of white in her variegation. And at other times, like in the spring and early summer months, she may present with either a heavy pink and white or yellow variegation. She is one of my superstar show plants and is now officially retired from showing. I don't think I will ever have another African violet that can possibly top her show record. But I "never say never" because I always have new baby Buckeye Nostalgias each year that could one day become my next superstar. Needless to say, I am a huge fan of Buckeye Nostalgia and also the late Pat Hancock, the magnificent hybridizer behind this awesome show plant. Pat was one of my greatest mentors over my last 45 years of growing and showing African violets.🌿🩷 * * * * * * * If you love seeing the journey of my award-winning African violets that have won more than 600 awards and numerous Bests in Show in sanctioned AVSA competitions at the local, state, regional and national levels, please follow my Facebook page (Wayne Geeslin) for a lot more to come.
