My ex DL malignant narcissistic was highly abusive for over 21 years. I was forced to take a kula divorce leaving behind my business and all my hard work. Meanwhile he would be praying in the first line of the mosque and volunteer during majalis. It was a hypocritical hell for me 🙏

Just listening to this is healing my heart. Finally a Sheikh that not only understands Narcissism but is speaking about it publicly. The desi culture is so bad - they don’t support women going through abuse, they rather leave her in it to suffer in it herself for her children to suffer in it because atleast she’s still married. Honestly, in my mother’s generation they used to say once your married your dead body can only return ie don’t get divorced don’t come back here but i feel narcissistic abuse is a different type of death….. you’re left as an empty shell, you lose your voice, your confidence is eroded, your self esteem is destroyed, you lose yourself in trying to keep the peace to manage the mood - it’s called walking on eggshells. I know the word narcissist is thrown around so commonly these days but ohh if you hear the account of those that have been through this, it’s not just heartbreaking it’s soul destroying.
