When my kids expressed their opinion if it annoyed me I reminded myself that my kids feel safe to express themselves. I never had that.

It’s wild to me that you needed a therapist to point this out. I’m grateful every day that my kids don’t have to know the childhood that I did.

I used to get anxious then scared when my kids were making a lot of noise. My therapist had to point out that no one in my home would punish them for that. That they, and I were safe to make noise and not listen for the angry person. That I gave them that and to be proud of it. To not live in the fear that we would all be hurt because of normal child behavior. It was a beautiful realization. And so freeing.

The best thing a therapist ever told me was “Only good moms worry if they are being good moms.” This has changed so much for me.

Mine is the questioning - I get SO annoyed when my 15yr old questions me. Some things I don't mind him questioning me on, but sometimes it's the "just listen and do as you're told". BUT then I remind myself that he's allowed to question, reason, and negotiate (which will serve him well later). He only has to learn when it's appropriate and when it's not 🤣.

It’s wild to me that sometimes there are parents that don’t want better for their kids… I have always thought that is literally the whole point, access to more, bigger dreams, more opportunity. It’s sad when the coparent’s dreams don’t align with yours.

I’m so confused … I’ve been following for a while & have only heard 3 kids names repeatedly ?? No hate , I may have missed a lot!

Good reminder. Sometimes it is very frustrating to be a mom and feel unappreciated. But this makes me feel a little differently.

Agreed. We can’t fault them, but it is our job to teach them the difference. Mine boys are older (21, 18, and 16) and we have learned this the hard way for sure. I am so grateful that we can give them a life we didn’t have but mannnnn can it bite you on the back end. 😂😂

Thanks for sharing this. We’ve worked hard for our kids to have a better life than we did. Sometimes I have felt they are ungrateful but I’ve never thought about it in that context. I never want them to experience what I did.

But also how do you know if they’re really learning how to be appreciative? This is the same with my kids, I want to give them everything I never had, but I also want them to appreciate it ❤️

I needed this, in this moment, I just heard what I needed. I have been so upset with my kids for just not being okay with being home on weekends, not having snacks they want in the house some days… well duh, they are used to the luxury of these things… mind blown
