That dr “clocking” the PA on ordering a CXR made me uncomfortable 🥴

Yup!! As a pre-PA it really bothers me when I see the demeaning comments on the PA profession when I am working so hard & losing literal years off my life w/ the stress to even get into PA school in the first place. I just commented back to someone on a Pre-PAs video who said that “the PA profession is so shady and I rather see an actual doctor who actually has training in healthcare.” Literally what??? I am fine with the want to go see a doctor instead of a PA but do not try to dismiss the hard work and 6+ years of schooling to gain 2 degrees, and not to mention also having to spend thousands on schooling as well as certifications to get patient experience to even get the opportunity to apply to PA school. And these are the same people who complain when the doctor’s schedule is booked out for almost a year. I feel that when I speak to people in person they “love” the career choice but then you get online (especially TT) and all you see is comments like “PAs are undertrained, not intelligent, etc.” Its truly sad. Especially bc of how hard we work to become a PA and also how much PAs do to contribute to medicine.

💯💯💯, it’s always that we don’t have the education. Always. When we are RIGHT, we are still wrong.

weve literally lost the plot.. its no longer about serving patients as a healthcare worker and somehow its become all about who is the smartest..? why don't we respect them for being healthcare workers

Online discourse is so tiresome, and even being in school I notice how judgmental and insensitive people are toward certain providers (especially low and mid level). With healthcare, I think there r issues in general (both within certain provider groups and as a whole as well). But we can all work toward a solution without attacking each other or mid-level providers. For example, I think NP school should be more standardized. However many NP schools are great and NPs are often great providers. We can advocate for change to improve education and outcomes without demeaning a whole demographic.
