He immediately took offence and started questioning who I thought I was to criticise him. “I looked at him and said, ‘João, your experience is supposed to prevent these mistakes, not give you an excuse when they happen.’ “That made him even angrier. ‘You cannot spend the entire match enjoying the freedom of an attacking full-back and then forget that defending is also part of your job.’ “He started talking about my experience, and I told him this wasn't about experience or reputation.
