It's also really really good that they know they won't get in trouble when they tell you the truth during their teen years because I've seen kids get in some pretty dangerous situations all because they were scared to tell their parents

My dad was the same way about lying when I was a kid. I am so grateful for it now. As an adult I won't lie or compromise my integrity for anyone. Being honest is such an important quality kids need.
