@ctorobotics: No camera. No touch sensors. Still finds the hole. 👀 MIT researchers trained a robot arm in simulation to insert a peg using only feedback from its own joints. On a real robot, it succeeded in 73% of 237 trials without real-world fine-tuning. The robot is not seeing the hole. It is learning to feel its way in through motion. Could this make precision assembly simpler and cheaper to automate? 🏢 Organization: MIT CSAIL — Improbable AI Lab 🎥 Media: @mengpaper ( Instagram ) | Research: https://arxiv.org/abs/2610.23849 ⚠️ This content is shared for informational purposes only. JuicyGinger :
This is a complicated solution that would result in a lot of crashes or maintenance calls

yeah so what they are "feeling" is also a type of sensor

Is there theory for combining data from different sensors to refine data? Like combining the camera data from what they're describing here?

So what your saying is it can plug the cable into the wall better than I can

no *additional sensors, electric motors when they "try harder" they draw more current and this can be measured, so when a robot is planning on moving in a way but bumps into the wall for the whole time it is trying to move but hitting the wall it is drawing much more current, and so the computer takes that knowledge and fixes the motion
