@realtormatthewm: After more than 50 years, the Tower District is getting its own library again. Fresno County officials have announced a new temporary library at the Ted C. Wills Community Center, giving the neighborhood its first local library branch since 1975. Here’s what we know: • The new library is expected to open as soon as December • It will be located inside the Ted C. Wills Community Center • The library itself will be approximately 1,600 sq. ft. • It will include books, four computers and a childhood literacy station • An additional Talking Book Library will provide audiobooks and braille services for people who are blind or print disabled • Combined, the spaces will total approximately 2,600 sq. ft. This location is only the beginning. Officials plan to use it as a temporary home while working toward a larger, permanent Tower District library. Potential locations for that permanent library are already being explored, with officials saying they want it in the heart of Tower. What do you think about a library finally returning to the Tower District? Save this post for later and share it with someone in Fresno. Disclaimer: Plans, timelines, locations and project details are subject to change as the permanent library project moves forward. Sources: Fresno County officials and local reporting
