I know this is random as heck but have you tried using the copp scoop to get goat poop out of grass? it seems like it would work and I hate getting goat poop out of grass with a broom 🤣

I've seen someone on here use sand, then First Saturday Lime, then shavings. Or in your case the Hemp or even mulch would work for the top layer. Stops mites and pests for dust bathing and might help with smells.

I love the mulch for my run, it’s the bomb. In my coop I use hemp on my poop shelf and I use shavings on the floor.

Bedding pellets but soaked so they expand and turn into fluff. So easy to sift

I’ve used mulch for 8 months and never had a case of bumblefoot! And it never smells. I just add more much and never have to clean

not chickens, but I LOVED sand for my quail. mulch seems like a great alternative though! shavings are sooo dusty 😬
