My cats get a "bye I love you, don't burn the house down" as I walk out the door. Sometimes a scratch on the head too. I'm not cuddling or kissing on them right before I leave, that's blatant cruel and I never understood why people do it

This is definitely not the video to stumble upon when I'm grieving. What I wouldn't do for one more moment with my pet.

I make it a chill roommate type hello/bye when I leave and come back and they got some weird (possible psych related) skin condition and screech at me when I stand up or walk around the house. Idk what I’m doing wrong.

I’m not paying for my cats to have iPhones on the Verizon network to NOT call them whenever I want to.

when I leave for work early in the morning my dog gets "love you be a good girl" and she looks at me like "ok when are you going to leave and stop making so much noise so I can go back to sleep?"

I say "My baby" to her and then leave it at that. She'd kill me if I did all that. 😭

my dogs separation anxiety is so bad (im his 4th owner he came like this) he can not ever be left home alone. He breaks out of creates or hurts himself trying, broken windows, ripped off door frames. at a certain point it was just best for all involved to treat him like a human toddler, either we're home with him or he gets a babysitter. Is that inconvenient as hell sometime? absolutely. Is it worth it cause hes a wonderful dog outside of that issue? also yes. and yes we tried meds, no it didnt help it actually made things 100% worse

This is so incredibly spot on. I really wish more people strived to learn how their animals think and experience the world.

I do let my toddler give the cat a forehead kiss before we go, but the cat doesn't give a single shit when we leave or when we get home as long as he has food and water he'd be just as happy not seeing us ever😂 we have monitors but I dont talk through them or anything he plays with his toys catches the occasional mouse and takes naps in places we usually move him from like straight in front of the TV or on the computer keyboard

My dogs sleep while I’m at work. They aren’t crated and there’s no issues. I don’t say hello or goodbye to them. They come up to me when I come in and I pet them.

I tell my dog "guard the house, I'll be back in a while". He's chill the whole time. It's not about telling them goodbye, it's about the energy you inflect into said statement. Signed, a guy who literally trains dogs. If you say goodbye and hello calmly, there is literally zero issue.

My dog gets several head scratches and under the chin scratch and told these wise words, " you're good dog. be a good dog. don't be an asshole. I know you'll fail on the last one"

we tell our dog that were going bye-bye and he goes to his crate. and when we get home we'll leave him in the crate for a bit before letting him out, occasionally acknowledging him. idk if it works but he loves his crate so I think its a win.

I totally hear your point. Making a huge deal of saying goodbye/hello does sound stressful and disruptive for some pets. I'm always gonna call "Bye babies, love you, see you later!" and "Hi babies, I'm home!" when I come and go because it makes me feel loved, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you're talking about 😅
