I am a writer not a filmographer(?) but I do agree with a few of your points because of some of your points do apply to many kinds of narrative. I use sex for character work than plot persay. I want to expose some of more vulnerable parts of the characters for pay off as sex likes to do that, but also to create breathing room with plot so the characters have a time to connect in more tender way. It also sometimes helps redouble character motivations! I they got someone to fight for now!
