@grabagrammiecc: 🔎 **KILL. BURY. PRINT. — PART 2** **McCurtain County, Oklahoma: The Bobby Dale Barrick Case** Before a secret recording brought national attention to McCurtain County officials, a small-town newspaper was already asking some very serious questions. One of those stories involved **Bobby Dale Barrick**, who died following a March 2022 incident involving law enforcement in Eagletown, Oklahoma. His death raised questions about the circumstances of his arrest, the use of force, and the handling of evidence. The McCurtain Gazette-News, operated by the Willingham family, sought law enforcement records and body-camera footage as part of its reporting. But obtaining those records became a battle of its own. Barrick's family also sought answers through the federal court system, filing a wrongful-death and civil-rights lawsuit. The defendants disputed the allegations and denied legal liability. On September 29, 2025, the federal district court granted summary judgment in favor of the remaining defendants, ending the case at the district-court level. ⚖️ **But here's why this story matters.** A family's allegations, an official investigation, and a court's legal findings are three different things. Understanding those differences is essential when examining a case like this. And there's another question worth asking: **What happens when the people responsible for reporting local news must take legal action just to obtain public records?** The recording that shocked America wasn't where this story began. It was part of a much bigger controversy involving a newspaper, local government, public accountability, and families searching for answers. 💬 **Do you believe law enforcement body-camera footage should generally be available to the public after a death involving officers?** ☕ **Grab a Grammie | Dinner & Crime** *Facts • Documents • Questions • No Sides* #McCurtainCounty #KillBuryPrint #grabagrammie #OklahomaNews #TrueCrime
