My story that I told my grandchildren is that the mermaids come to shore at night to play and if they don’t make it back to the ocean they turn into a statue. 🤣😂 They love it. Cause I also told them that their dad is a statue on the ocean front because he was trying to get all his children back to the water.

I mean it sounds good to me. What's funny is that my friend & I were just talking about the mermaids recently. We have so many different statues & speaking of which do you know about the Norwegian lady at Oceanfront as well as The Witch of Pungo which there is a statue next to what used to be Bayside Hospital on Independence Boulevard. Her name is actually Grace Sherwood and she was a midwife and a healer but due to certain events, people thought she was a witch but she survived drowning basically where you get witchduck road from.

“Legends are lessons that ring with truth” -Brave. When Homer wrote the Odyssey, sirens didn’t lure men to their death. They called to Odysseus for him to listen and learn truth. It was Odysseus who bound himself so that he would have to hear them and not act on the truths the sirens sang of. The misunderstanding of legend of sirens is just another example of patriarchal societies portraying the feminine as something dangerous.
