Most women talk about their shoulders or their hips. My hands are so bad that I actually went to the doctor and they tested me for rheumatoid arthritis, which it wasn’t. My shoulders and my knees hurt too, but my hands hurt so bad in the mornings that sometimes I can’t put toothpaste on my toothbrush. My husband has to help me. I’ve been on estradiol patches and progesterone pills for a month. Hot flashes are better. I’m sleeping a little bit better. But my hands they still hurt all the time.

The evidence is cautiously positive but of limited quality: PEA appears to reduce chronic and neuropathic pain modestly in pooled analyses, but the better-controlled randomized trials are more mixed, and most positive data come from open-label or low-quality studies with substantial heterogeneity and publication bias.
