oh my god finally! i never see anyone talk about the fact that nico had canon anorexia! no hate on artists who do this, but i dislike when people make him muscular because it makes no sense and he’s like the only character with ed rep! tysm for this

I see so much of myself in Leo. He was also abused in some of his foster homes, I believe by a woman named Teresa.

Rick was so good at writing characters that made everyone feel seen, even people who got pushed into the background of many other kid's book. examples here: - Chiron is in constant pain in his legs when in centaur form so he usually is seen in his wheelchair (good representation of people with leg pains) - Many characters not having a good relationship with parents and even angry at their parents for ignoring them (AMAZING and great way to show that many families are broke and not easy to fix) - Teens feeling too much pressure early on during their lives (was a good way to tell kids they don't have to feel like everyone needs them) - Death (it wasn't treated like "oh well Charlie is dead", no, it had grief, it had acceptance, it had anger. all emotions that many people feel after losing someone) (imma end this here, but Rick is so amazing at writing characters)

Connor and Travis being forced to take on a leadership role at ages 11 and 13 after thier brother and almost all of their older siblings betrayed them and then seeing their brother die later in the war (while also probably being bullied heavily) vs it being a kids book

And I love how this is a kids book because these are issues multiple kids struggle with and I’m happy it’s getting representation

ConfettiandChaos :
part of Nico's fear likely resulted from being born in the 30s where things of that nature were far more normalized and because he spent so much time in the Lotus building (I forgot if it was a casino or hotel forgive me) he didn't get to see the world progress I want to give him a hug (he'd probably bite me tho)

It seems like such a cool book series, I just hate how he portrayed the Gods. If it was a fiction book that wasn’t connected to the Gods, I would love to read it, but the way he portrays the Gods- especially Ares- annoys me to the point I physically can’t force myself to read it.
