@shematologist: The number one most important thing to do if you’re iron deficient is to FIGURE OUT THE CAUSE. Causes fall into 4 buckets -intake -absorption -losses -increased utilization #irondefiency #anemia #sportsmedicine #irondeficiencycauses
If I know I have low ferritin but don’t know why, should I see a hematologist as a next step?

If it’s none of these things. No periods, not an athlete, nothing noteworthy on endo or colonoscopy, then what could be causing it? What other tests can we get?

can you speak about when our bodies have an autoimmune reaction and we attack our iron blood cells because I did that with a blood transfusion but sadly I don't know if I am doing that currently and I've dropped 80% in 2 months.

I no longer have a gallbladder. I know for a fact, that’s why I have a ferritin deficiency.… But don’t worry it only took me 3 1/2 years to figure it out because the doctors didn’t know why

Cool. How? I can’t even get deficiencies recognized. I have been able to supplement hard for a year and now I’m just over the threshold for concern and no one will discuss it

Why isn’t anybody talking about gut overgrowths and infections that lead to malabsorption? H Pylori is so easily overlooked but so common.
