I actually think that is a HUGE reason people don’t hire professionals. No one wants to call a company, set and appointment for them to come take measurements and then wait for a quote only to have to check with another company or two to make sure they are getting a fair price. Transparent pricing is a huge advantage for any professional service imo

I looked into an interior designer locally… their website said “options for every budget!”. I didn’t ask for much (one bedroom 17x18). Their “starting price is 40 THOUSAND…. Not for every budget sadly

I just want to be an employee. Do you companies prefer a certificate in interior design or a BA in Interior architecture? And yes they're drastically different but I can't find anywhere that offers a degree for interior design soooo here we are.

Yes! I met with a designer for a kitchen Reno only to find out her pricing was $7K just for the design. I think she is wonderful and probably deserves that much, but there is NO way I could fit that in our budget. If I just had a ballpark price before, I wouldn’t have had to waste either of our time.

Lack of transparency is the number one reason. I have the budget for some sort of professional help, but I look up websites and I don’t know whether someone’s particular service is going to cost $500, $5000, $50,000 because everyone has a nice website these days. The most frustrating part is I reach out via the Contact form, say what I want done, and ask for a ballpark figure “Will this cost around $1000 or around $10,000? I’m trying to estimate a budget?” and I still don’t get a helpful answer, just “call for more details”. No. It’s annoying.

This is so appreciated!! As a homeowner I cannot stand having to beg to get even a basic understanding of price!! Is this $5k or $100k?!? How can I find out?? I had cabinet company come out to quote me to paint my very tiny kitchen, literally we have 6 uppers. They wanted $5k to paint cabinets. I told them ahead of time I didn’t want to pay a lot and yet we both wasted hours getting them out to measure and quote me the same price as new cabinets to paint them??

I could not agree more with this! I own my business for 10 years and my pricing has always been listed upfront on my website. No hidden cost, no guessing what a family will pay. I think transparency is so important. I want people to know exactly what they are looking at before they ever start the process of wanting to work together. Btw, I am meeting an interior designer. Let me check out your website, this really sold me!

How are you charging only $1300 for this? For two people doing the work at 40 project hours total (likely more work) plus overhead costs that’s like maybe $15/hr… ?

Literally in every industry I avoid people who don't at LEAST have a minimum price point. I really appreciate business like yours that acknowledge that even though the price will change depending on the service the prospective customer can at least see estimates!!!
