@antmedia5: This is why the US supports Ukraine… or at least it was. The 1994 nuclear deal, formally known as the Budapest Memorandum and the Trilateral Statement, was signed on December 5, 1994, in Budapest, Hungary. Ukraine agreed to give up its inherited nuclear arsenal—the world's third-largest—in exchange for security assurances, economic support, and respect for its borders from Russia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. #fypシ゚viralシ#reelsfbシ#ukrainian#russia

Ukraine couldn't have kept the nuclear weapons. They didn't have the codes, the technology or right scientist to inspect and cool it as some of the nukes reacted frequently and needed cooling etc. Also the fear that Chernobyl caused Ukraine was afraid to kept it because disarming and building it again without Russia could have resulted into something catastrophic.
US and other nations too didn't want more countries to get nukes since Russia already knew how to build it the agreed to let Ukraine return give it to Russia(this is mostly y we hear many of Russias nukes may not work because of the disintegration) but the made it well.
so Ukraine gave if up but not like out of good will but they had no choice

Independent did not mean be a member of a U S led alliance that would park its weapons on Russias doorstep.Any debate about this issue must also address Russian security concerns
