(Disclaimer this is not a post to bash anyone that is in the organization I grew up in) but it’s been on my heart to talk about this especially since yesterday was 5 years since I had to make the choice to better myself as a human. But for the longest time I was in denial trying to convince myself specifically after I cut my hair and started wearing pants that I didn’t change. But I did. And I changed for the better. It’s not because I was changing outwardly but because I was changing inwardly. I was constantly keeping myself in check to not talk about special interests because I knew people would think it was weird. I presented myself in a way that was not authentic to myself because I wanted others to think I was worthy of more. I followed what everyone else did because I was ashamed of who I was, and I went down a spiral of making terrible decisions, hurting so many people and myself. If you did not know my specific circumstances 5 years ago and even before, of all the wrong I was doing most people just assumed I was on the top of the world because I was presenting myself in a way that made it seem like I was living my best life and doing good. But in reality I was going down a path that I wouldn’t be able to pull myself out of if I continued. So I started a journey of forgiving myself, and bettering myself and along the way I absolutely did that and even though I regret my past mistakes I do not regret the woman it made that I am today. I am proud of myself for seeking change in my life because if I didn’t I would’ve drowned. I’m so thankful that I am living a life where I have no fear to share the things that I love, and that I can inspire so many people to be proud of who they are and their special interests. I don’t recognize the person I was 5 years ago and after all this time I feel peace knowing I am no longer that girl who was in a literal identity crisis. #change #MentalHealth #specialinterests #exupci #deconstructing
