For most of my life, fitting in wasn't particularly difficult. I could walk into a room, figure out what was expected of me, and adjust accordingly. I knew how to make conversation. How to make people comfortable. How to become whatever version of myself seemed to work best in that moment. And for a long time, I thought that meant I knew who I was. But here's what I've come to understand. Learning how to fit into someone else's world doesn't necessarily mean you've learned how to live in your own. Getting to know myself meant questioning things I'd never thought to question. Why did I behave a certain way? Why did I believe certain things? Why did I keep choosing situations that didn't feel right for me? And perhaps the hardest question of all... Was this really me, or was this simply who I'd learned to be? Fitting in required me to understand everyone else's expectations. Getting to know myself required me to question them. Have you ever realized you knew how to make everyone else comfortable but didn't really know what made you comfortable? Holy Chuckles Podcast Episode 83: Curbside, Please!
