No more chopping it into pieces first. 👇 READ BELOW What it is: Claude can now read a large text file past the usual size limits in one go, as long as it needs the whole file and your chat has room left. I haven't run it yet, so this is from the post, not my own testing. How to use it: 1. Pick a text file where you really need the whole thing read, like a long transcript or a big export. 2. Start a fresh chat, because Claude's working memory for a conversation (called context) fills up as you go. 3. Ask Claude to read the entire file, and say exactly what you want back, like a summary or a list of decisions. 4. Spot check a few details in its answer against the original file. Why it matters: You skip the copy, paste and split routine, and Claude sees everything at once instead of guessing from pieces. My guess is it helps most when the answer depends on the whole file, like finding where two parts of a long document disagree. Why not: A big file takes up a lot of that working memory, so if you only need one section, ask for just that part instead. From the Claude Code changelog, v2.1.296.
