I feel similar to you. I went no contact with family due to there being no way to have a healthy relationship with them. The grief would hit me in waves and still does now but not as often. Now I get that belonging need met by my Ancestors and trying to make healthy friends. Sometimes I panic thinking about family passing away without me there. But I can't risk being in contact with them. It's a struggle because my biology is saying "family is life" vicerally. My mind is like "you can't handle that abuse again and continue to function".
