We must resist this unconstitutional, amoral war even if it means having uncomfortable conversations with the young people who serve our belligerent government. There are veteran led organizations that offer legal resources and advice for active duty members who are given (or about to be given) unlawful orders that these soldiers, and thousands more, may not know about. The 10th Mountain Division is a historic Army unit; these service men and women were kind, professional, and gracious in our interactions. Most veterans of the War on Terror understand that they fought an unjust war for the supremecy of our petrodollar. 1 million people died and we replaced the Taliban with the Taliban. Veterans and citizens alike do not want to see this next generations make the same tragic mistakes that lead to death and destruction. This authoritarian regime isn't even trying to lie about going to war for oil while we are about to watch one climate tipping point fall after another. We need rapid decarbonization, not to level schools and hospitals with million dollar missiles. This government is breaking international laws, they aren't seeking approval for acts of war from Congress, as with everything else, they are killing first and asking questions second. We are a rogue nation and our service members need protections when they have the courage to refuse an unlawful order. We are long overdue for revolution and a major factor of many revolutions is conscientious objectors who refused to fight in unjust wars. Spread the word to any active duty, reservists, national guardsmen, and federal officers you know.
