@abtinsuranceagency: Turning 65 soon? Here are 4 things to do BEFORE your birthday so you don’t get burned by Medicare. Some of the biggest Medicare mistakes happen before you even enroll. And certain decisions can affect your coverage and costs for years. Here’s what I’d recommend: 1️⃣ Decide if you should DELAY Medicare. If you’re still working or covered through your spouse’s employer, you may be able to delay Part B without a penalty. But not all employer coverage qualifies. 2️⃣ Prepare for IRMAA. Medicare generally looks at your income from TWO years ago to determine whether you’ll pay higher Part B and Part D premiums. If your income has dropped due to retirement or another qualifying event, you may be able to appeal. 3️⃣ Learn Parts A, B, C, D and Medigap. Understanding the difference between Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement insurance is one of the most important steps you can take. 4️⃣ Mark your enrollment deadlines. Your Initial Enrollment Period generally begins 3 months before your 65th birthday month and lasts 7 months. Medigap has its own enrollment rules, too. My advice? Start planning at 64, not 65. A little preparation now could help you avoid costly mistakes later. Follow me for Medicare information you need to know BEFORE turning 65. Get my FREE Medicare Checklist at the link in my bio.

I met with my boss, showed him my premiums for both Medicare and a Part G policy. The premiums for both were cheaper than his portion of my group insurance. Asked him to pay it instead of me remaining on his group policy and he was happy to! Win-win!

Hypothetically speaking: If you could bank 200k per year would it make any sense to stop working for years 63 and 64 ?
