I feel like doctors and nurses should all learn the alphabet in asl, its easy and fingerspelling is a thing, its tedious and can be difficult for people who are knew but its better than nothing

They literally could’ve written a note if they had absolutely no other option, there’s no reason to leave someone in the dark like that

if they are deaf and you dont have an interpreter you can write things down….. ive had to do that several times to communicate with someone

I’m not trying to blame this on the person but like if you’re allergic to like a medication or anything and know that you going to have a hard time communicating why don’t you just get a medical bracelet just in case

Not every hospital has one. especially if they are in a small community.

yelling at the nurse well knowing it's the hospital administration to fix it is wild given the fact she'd have it much more easier with an interpreter around

As an ed tech I pass a pen a paper back and forth if our interpreter is in use or for example we’re out in the loud crowded lobby

it's not allowed bc the friend can be lying to her via sign language. if there's no interpreter, it's usually pen+paper or typing

if healthcare and first responders learned the phrase “are you Deaf?” and the responses “yes” and “no” we would save a LOT of time in emergency situations

It's not that effing hard to get them a clipboard at the very least. (Yes I know it's a show, but it happens in real life) 🤦♀️Same thing happened at my hospital and I happened to be the only person on the floor that knew some sign language. So they were grabbing me until we found an eraser board and thank goodness her mother came later as well.
