Unfortunately this mama has lost another baby a few years ago to this pool, the exact same breeding pair: mother Kit and father Smithers suffered an incredibly similar tragedy in that very same habitat on June 11, 2021, their firstborn youngster, a 1 1/2 year old female white cheeked gibbon named Leilani, was found unresponsive in the habitat pool. Zoo staff and veterinarians administered CPR but were unable to revive her. As unfortunate as this is something needs to be done with the exhibit pool before another baby ultimately drowns from this :(

i’m sorry, this is the SECOND TIME this has happened to these specific gibbon parents?! and i just clicked “kczoo” on the search and it was a video of the penguins on their cam getting frequently getting stuck in a hole for hours w no help. this is awful.
