@godtourage: Denzel Washington said something in this interview that I think a lot of people need to hear. When he was asked about being canceled and losing public support, his response was basically, who cares? He wasn’t interested in chasing followers, approval, or trying to make everybody happy. His focus was on who he follows. “I don’t follow anybody. I follow the heavenly spirit. I follow God, I don’t follow man. I have faith in God. I have hope in man.” That’s a powerful mindset in a world where people can get caught up in likes, followers, opinions, and trying to fit in. If you’re constantly worried about who approves of you, you’re going to have a hard time walking in the purpose God has for you. Somebody is always going to have something to say. Somebody won’t like your decision. Somebody won’t understand your faith. That’s okay. I’d rather follow God and know I’m walking in the right direction than follow the crowd just because everybody else is going that way. For the athlete, the entrepreneur, the parent, the coach, or anybody trying to figure out their next move, don’t let the world’s approval become your compass. Follow God. Let your faith lead you. Don’t let public opinion decide who you’re becoming. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5 Denzel also made the point that you can’t be canceled if you never signed up for the approval game in the first place.
