I thought I was pulling back. But I was actually launching the slingshot.
A couple of years ago, I started walking away from a business most people would kill to have: a million followers across platforms, brand deals, luxury trips, and national media attention. But something wasn’t right. I wanted my kids to have a real childhood. Not to live their lives for content. And I wanted my own life to feel like mine again. So I stepped away, with no plan. And I returned to the one thing that’s always grounded me: writing. That writing became a Substack newsletter. And now… it’s becoming a book. The Slingshot Effect will be published by Crown Currency, an imprint of Penguin Random House. I still can’t quite believe I’m joining the publishing home of some of my favorite authors, including Eric Ries (The Lean Startup), Greg McKeown (Essentialism), and Keith Ferrazzi (Never Eat Alone). Their work has profoundly shaped how I think about work, creativity, and reinvention. So what is The Slingshot Effect? Well, think about how a slingshot works: You have to pull back in order to launch forward. The tension is what creates the momentum. The retreat is what creates the precision and force. This book is for anyone in that space of tension. For those who stepped away not because they were lost, but because they were preparing for something more aligned. Huge thanks to my agent David Moldawer (Writers House) for believing in this from the beginning, and to my editor Amy Li at Crown Currency for immediately seeing the potential. The slingshot is loaded. I can’t wait to show you what comes next!
