@bosnia: Follow @bosnia The man behind the Visoko dig, Semir Osmanagić, says the Bosnian pyramids date to around 12,000 BC. The Great Pyramid of Giza went up around 2560 BC. If the Visoko claim ever held, Bosnia’s pyramid would be older by more than 9,000 years, and Egypt would be the late arrival. Osmanagić also says the largest of them, the Pyramid of the Sun, is bigger than Khufu’s pyramid. That would make Bosnia the oldest and the biggest in one move, which is a very Bosnian way to enter a competition nobody knew it had joined. Archaeologists are not convinced. One said the Balkans were in a glacial period then, with hunter-gatherers who lacked the tools for monumental architecture, and the president of the European Association of Archaeologists called the theories absurd. Which leaves the best version of the story: the world’s oldest pyramid, as long as nobody checks. Either way, the hill is there, the view is real, and Egypt has never once had to defend its pyramids from a Bosnian. *Satire and parody. The 12,000 BC age is a claim by Semir Osmanagić, not an established finding. Archaeologists consider it unsupported. ©️ Unknown | DM for credit
